National Alpaca Show
From the 3rd to the 6th of August, Alpaca Club students got up nice and early to head down to Globe Derby Park, where this year’s National Alpaca Show was being held.
The National Alpaca Show is an annual event where alpaca studs from all around Australia come to show off their alpacas and their fleece, which are judged in a plethora of competitions. Only the best of alpacas are entered into this show and they are assessed by the best of judges. It is also host to the Junior Judging competition, where competitors are scored on how well they judge an alpaca.
Our Alpaca Club students were there to lend a helping hand to any breeders, officials or staff, wherever and whenever needed. They took up such tasks as inspecting alpacas, setting up pens, helping with the interior designing of the display room, assisting with the running of the judging, filming footage for the Australian Alpaca Association and even announcing for the competitions.
Their help was much appreciated by all at the show. This was also a valuable opportunity for students to get an insight into both running such a big show and the Australian alpaca industry.
